Update: The Napa County Sheriff’s Office said Friday afternoon that the pilot and two passengers died in the crash. They were flying a Beechcraft 25 Bonanza plane. The names of those who died have not been released pending investigation.
A small plane crashed into a Napa County vineyard on Friday morning, Cal Fire confirmed to SFGATE.
The crash happened around 8:44 a.m. near Angwin Airport off Los Posadas Road, Cal Fire said.
According to firefighters, the accident started a small fire in the vineyard, which was quickly extinguished.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office said three people were on the plane. He did not communicate the conditions of the pilot or the two passengers on board.
William Odegard said the Twitter that he witnessed the consequences of the accident while walking the dog in the forest of Las Posadas. He said he “heard a bang” and saw a “plume of black smoke”.
Cal Fire and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office are both at the scene.
There have been several plane crashes in and around the Bay Area this month. A small plane crashed in a wooded area near Dinsmore Airport on Thursday, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said. The two passengers of the single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft are believed to have died after the plane crashed and caught fire.
Earlier in the week, a small plane crashed into a house in Monterey, engulfing at least one house in flames. No one was inside the residence at the time of Tuesday’s accident. Two women who were on the plane were killed.
