KNUTSFORD Tea Room hosted their first live music event from their home in Cotton Shop Yard.

Cheshire-based “Fine Lines” brought the court to life last weekend with a lively performance of Americana and covers that made the crowd dance on the cobblestones.

For this nighttime event, the tearoom served up Mediterranean-style sharing plates, a new Morgan Edwards wine list and a selection of craft beers, along with their traditional homemade cakes.

Blessed in dry weather, the outdoor event drew a crowd of over fifty with passers-by stopping to enjoy the music of King Street.

Fine Lines drummer and storyteller Mark Radcliffe kept the crowd entertained with fun anecdotes between songs.

Singer and band founder David Boardman said: “Saturday’s concert at Knutsford’s Tearoom was an unexpected delight.

“We really didn’t think that many people would show up.

“There was a wonderful atmosphere on a beautiful summer evening and the crowds were incredible.

“They kept us for two callbacks which was wonderful.

“Such a good evening! We can’t wait to start again.”

Teahouse manager Harriet Henry commented, “I couldn’t be happier; it was such a brilliant night.

“The group was just amazing and I could see how much our customers all appreciated them.

“And the rain even resisted! I must have checked the weather forecast 10 times in the hours leading up to the event, but we were really lucky.

“I am also very proud of the team; we have never done anything like this before, but they did everything to keep the service going.

“I’m really happy with how everything turned out and yes, to everyone who asked, we will definitely make ‘Tea Room Live’ a more regular event.”

Among the throng of revelers was Paul Langley, a resident of Knutsford and customer of the tearoom, who said: “Knutsford went totally European last Saturday night as the tearoom in the heart of our town hosted an event really brilliant.

“They brought together the perfect mix of great food, fine wine and Fine Lines, which performed an entertaining ensemble of Acoustic Americana in the midst of the shadow of the Gaskell Memorial Tower.

“Unique? Yes. Unique? No chance.”

Details of future events will be posted on the tearoom’s social media.
