Sponsored by Cronig’s Market

It’s summer on Martha’s Vineyard, and the bounty is exploding from land and sea. Locally grown foods can be found on island menus and in a few markets such as Cronig’s, North Tisbury Farm and Market, Vineyard Grocer, Alley’s, the Chilmark Store, the Katama General Store, the Larder and of course the fish markets. We recommend that you get a real feel for our diversity by taking a tour of the island and seeing the variety of farm stalls. Although there are only a few certified organic farms on the island, most farms use some or all of the organic practices.

The farm stalls here are open to the public without an appointment, so if you’re on a cruise and pass by one of these gorgeous farm stalls, you may find a bouquet of flowers, chilled fruit, lassi with yogurt, fresh greens, ground lamb, pork chops or a woolen blanket.

Some are cash or island checks only; bring small bills for change. Many stalls collect your payment through the honor system: Just put the money in the can.

Check out the list of all the farms and farm stands in Martha’s Vineyard.
