Boston Globe and Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival Announce All-Star Line-Up Celebrating Black Filmmakers, August 6-14

MARTHA’S VINEYARD, Mass., August 6, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Boston Globe and the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (MVAAFF) announces the start of a special series of summer films and events that celebrates and amplifies African-American filmmakers and creators.
The 19th edition of MVAAFF, held August 6-14, highlights an exceptional program of more than 70 original feature films, documentaries and short films produced and directed by a collective of talented filmmakers from around the world. Thematic round tables and exclusive events are scheduled throughout the island and will be assisted by Oscar® Winning director Spike lee, director and Oscar® actress King Regina, award-winning writer / producer / director Kenya Barris, Questlove, Marc H. Morial, Barbara lee, April Ryan and Bevy Smith.

Boston Globe to host special event program on Monday August 9 to celebrate black joy and black lives with an exclusive screening of his award-winning series, A great resistance. Founder, director and columnist of Globe culture, Jeneé Osterheldt will join Globe CMO, Peggy Byrd in conversation.
