Four weeks after confirming plans to the very first Winn-Dixie stand-alone liquor storeJacksonville-based parent company, Southeastern Grocers, has released details of the new concept, including its name: WDs.
WD’s wine, beer and liquor store concept will be the first in Winn-Dixie’s southeast footprint, company officials said in a press release on Tuesday.
The 8,640 square foot liquor store located at 4472 Hendricks Ave. at Miramar Center will present a wide selection of fine wines, craft beers and top-notch distilled spirits.

Scheduled to open in time for the holidays, WDs is designed to provide customers with a unique interactive shopping experience that includes a wine tasting station offering a rotating selection of 10 wines on tap so customers can sip various vintages while they are on tap. ‘they are shopping, according to the statement.
In addition to offering over 1,700 fine wines, the store will also feature a “big beer cellar†with selections of international, national and local craft beers. A large selection of distilled spirits will be accompanied by a mixology section.
WDs intends to host free neighborhood events such as tastings, demonstrations, holiday celebrations and community gatherings, the company said in the statement.
Construction is already underway at the liquor store, which is located at the southern end of Miramar Center, home to the Players Grille sports bar, Toscana Little Italy, Open Road Bicycles and more.
The company also announced plans for two new Winn-Dixie supermarkets in St. Johns County on Tuesday.
Scheduled to open by the end of this year, the first will be at 181 Blackford Way at Shores Village Plaza in St. Augustine Shores.
Another store slated for the southwest corner of US 1 and Race Track Road in the Grand Cypress development is expected to open in 2022, the company said.
