The clinics specifically target 12 to 17 year olds. Sister Marsha Allen of Vineyard Farms says everyone is keeping a close eye on increasing rates of positivity among young teens, what better way to host a clinic in the neighborhood.

“In April, our zip code was the last in the state for vaccinations. So we started helping with vaccinations, and a lot of kids are coming here because of the farm, the chickens, the basketball. So it’s a good place to partner with the Vax to School program, ”Allen said.

Ladonna Hurell arrived with her 2 sons for their second round of Pfizer shots. Getting them vaccinated is very important to her.

“Without it, they can’t be around me because my immune system is very weak, because I have a disease,” Hurell said.

She also has an 11-year-old child.

“So I’m waiting for them to take that one on so my whole family gets vaccinated,” Hurell said.

Like so many other vaccination clinics, there is an incentive to help attract more teens and reverse the spread among this age group.

“We have a 14-year-old who will get a gift card because one of the things the governor’s program offers is a $ 25 incentive if you’re between 12 and 17 from Amazon,” Allen said.
