Tucked away in a quiet corner, Amari manages to feel like a secret even though it’s located on one of the busiest stretches of Midtown. Next to the locals’ favorite underground bar-style Death & Taxes, Amari is an Italian cocktail bar serving signature sips, wine and beer where everything on the menu is inspired by Italian drinks.

Inside, Amari is dark and sexy, an ideal spot lit by chandeliers for guests to engage in deep conversation and intimate moments; laid back enough for a weeknight but perfectly acceptable for celebrating a birthday or making a first date. Or you can head to the patio, where on a warm evening, the twinkling lights above are the perfect ambiance for a festive gathering with friends.

On the menu, Negroni lovers will be delighted to see three options for the popular drink. If you’ve ever traveled outside of Reno, you may have noticed that this is more of a specialty that not all bartenders have mastered.

The classic — Hayman’s London Dry Gin, Campari and Antica Formula — is the more traditional take on the strong drink. The Negroni Bianco, however, replaces Hayman’s gin with another brand of the same spirit before adding two types of Bianco, which bring an herbaceous quality to the drink as well as spices and a touch of sweetness from the Italian dessert wine.

Perhaps the best interpretation, depending on who you ask, however, is the Cherry Blossom, a concoction of Cappeletti, Litchi, Cherry Blossom, Manchino Vermouth and Luxardo Bitter Bianco that plays on the sweetness of the ingredients but is still balanced by the strong. alcohol content.

All wines and signature beer have Italian roots, from rosé with prosecco, from pinot grigio to more obscure grape varieties such as lambrusco and barbera d’alba. The beer is an Italian lager – Berra Moretti.

If you want to keep it simple, order a French 75 or an espresso martini. For something with a little more flair, or maybe something new to you, order a taste of strong and heady Black Manhattan (bourbon and Angostura Bitters) or an old-fashioned twist, Old Fashioned Marzipan. is blended with chocolate, almond and caramel bitters for a more decadent overall flavor. The Violetta is a blend of ingredients that results in a light and refreshing drink that is more complex than many others while the Amari-Cano offers crisp citrus flavors with a gin base.

There is no shortage of experiences to enjoy in Amari, whether you’re planning a flight to savor with a friend or sampling the list of colorful cocktails that make up the menu. Across the street you can satisfy your hunger or have an after-aperitif meal at Noble Pie or Arario Midtown, but there is no food in Amari, only drinks in this little one. European hotspot.
