Jilly’s Music Hall reopens in downtown Akron after more than a year.

The Northside District club at 111 N. Main St. closed in March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the entertainment industry to a screeching halt.

Concert halls expected the shutdown to last only a few weeks, but here we are in the summer of 2021, still trying to get back to normal.

“It’s been 15 long, weird months and we’re ready to celebrate live music like never before,” owner Jill Bacon Madden said in the announcement.

The opening weekend will be July 16-17. Seating at the table is available through prepaid reservations available at jillysmusicroom.com. Walk-ups are always welcome. There is a $ 5 cover charge if spaces remain available.

Ladies Night will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday. Hailing from Akron, the five-piece cover band bill themselves as “the ultimate rock tribute to pop divas” from the 1990s to the 2000s. According to the group’s promotional material, “these five guys are not afraid. to wear their love “for Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and other performers on” their glittery pink sleeves “.

The Scenic Route will take the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Akron-Canton pop group, who have released a few albums, have been around for a decade and describe their music as “a mix of great anthems, quiet indie rock, modern rock and R&B”.

Shows are scheduled every weekend this month. Here is the rest of the program:

For the safety of employees, performers and guests, the club encourages all unvaccinated people to wear masks. If clients are not feeling well, they should stay home.

Created in 2013, the Jilly’s Music Room has a capacity of nearly 250 people. The full-service kitchen offers a 100% gluten-free tapas menu and the bar offers handcrafted cocktails, fine wines and over 100 beers.

Jilly’s Music Room is owned by the National Independent Venue Association, which has nearly 3,000 members. The opening weekend coincides with the independent venues week from July 12 to 18.

Madden said his club was proud to be part of the week-long event, which celebrates the contributions of independent sites to local economies and the promotion of regional talent and original artists.

“We are particularly excited that this is happening during our planned post-pandemic reopening week,” she noted.
