Italian cuisine, heritage festival scheduled for Sunday | News, Sports, Jobs

The 32nd Annual Italian Food and Heritage Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 at DelGrosso Park.

“We are proud of our family heritage and our traditions. If there’s one thing Italians love, it’s good food. This annual showcase of food, family and fun is a celebration we look forward to every year,” said Carl Crider Jr., president of DelGrosso’s Park.

DelGrosso Foods Inc., Blair Senior Services and the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA sponsor this annual day of Italian food and music.

Pavilion #2 will be set up as an Italian cuisine villa with multiple service stations for guests to try a variety of food items including homemade lasagna, grilled chicken alfredo and more. Guest favorites such as Italian wedding soup and fagioli pasta will be in the green and white tent, while DelGrosso’s own Italian sausage sandwich with peppers and onions and meatball sandwich can be found in the pavilion. #3.

Desserts will include Italian Rum Cake or Tiramisu and Pizza Frit (Italian Donut) on the Midway. Pacifico Bakery will offer a variety of breads, while Mount Carmel Church will offer Italian pastries including biscotti and cannoli. Wine tasting at Oak Spring and Starr Hill Vineyards is available to those 21 and older with valid ID.

The Cavaliers Band will take to the park stage for performances at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Faiella’s Father & Son Strolling Mandolin and Acoustic Guitar will also be there.

The Italian Food and Heritage Festival takes place during the park’s annual wagon sale weekend. On September 17 and 18, up to 10 people safely seat-belted in a vehicle can get an all-day ride fun pass for just $25 per car.

The park, rides only, is open weekends in September from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

DelGrosso’s Park’s season finale – Harvestfest Weekend – will take place September 24-25. Admission is $6 and includes all park rides and entertainment.
