Il Fornaio – Authentic Italian at Coronado Ferry Landing

Il Fornaio at Ferry Landing Coronado

Il Fornaio sits at the base of Ferry Landing, overlooking San Diego Bay. After opening on September 3, 1999, the restaurant has been under ownership and management teams a few times. However, Luca Allieri has been running the Italian cafe-restaurant for about a fortnight of these March years.

When asked what has changed in that time, Luca admits, “He hasn’t changed much. We believe we have the most authentic experience outside of Italy, we have great recipes, we are solid.” Areas that are under review are social media and watch modern appeal. Focusing on their authentic food, Luca shares, “Our chef is very creative and upscale. Additionally, he describes the pasta as “fresh and homemade” with the dedicated pasta staff working 12 hours a day. Other than pasta, other favorites include a grigliato pollo, grilled chicken breast with a hot sauce, and the Cristina pizza. Rounding out the menu, Il Fornaio has branded wines exclusively for them, pinot grigio standing on Luca. Also, the olive oil is from Italy and the bread is homemade. Il Fornaio is a true Italian experience.

The Ferry Landing is the ideal Il Fornaio home, Luca describes, “The Ferry Landing is unique, there are a variety of opportunities to explore the island. From simple dining to sophisticated dining like us, the Ferry Landing settings suits a day of fun. You can start on the landing and have a great adventure riding bike or paddleboard.”
