Exceptional results for the 61st Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges Wine Auction

Nuits-Saint-Georges, March 20, 2022 – The 61st Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges Wine Sale, which took place on Sunday March 20, 2022, took place in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The result of the sale of the estate’s 2021 harvest is up 29.8% compared to last year, at €2,486,000, a strong increase compared to the 2021 edition, which itself had reached record levels. An exceptional result for this typically Burgundian vintage! The association Piece raised some €43,585 for the benefit of the association APF France Handicap, represented by the French singer Elodie Frégé.

A STRONG INCREASE IN RESULTS

Traditionally held at the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the 61st charity auction of the Wines of the Hospices de Nuits took place on March 20, 2022, chaired by the Auctioneer Hugues Cortot and the Oenologist Aymeric de Clouet. The 2021 vintage allowed the auctioning of 109 Pieces, through 18 different cuvées, including only one white. The result of the sale of the 2021 vintage of the estate amounted to €2,486,000, up 29.8% compared to the previous year (when 114 Pieces were presented). The average price of a Piece of red wine was €22,481.50 compared to €16,687.50 in 2021, an increase of 34.7% compared to the 60th edition.

The Georges Faiveley cuvée, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Saint-Georges, recorded the highest average price increase for red wines. This Piece is sold for €30,500 in 2021, compared to €51,000 this year… an increase of 67.2%.

Note also the record price reached for the single piece of white wine in the catalogue. The Cuvée Pierre de Pême ‘Les Terres Blanches’ from Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru sold for €58,000 compared to €27,000 the previous year (average price of the two Pieces sold in 2021).

CONSTANTLY GROWING ENTHUSIASM

The 2021 vintage has generated a lot of enthusiasm at the Hospices de Nuits, and the increase in the number of buyers has continued this year, testifying to the ever-growing interest in these wines.

A UNIQUE CHARITY COIN

The Piece of Charity, a blend of the estate’s nine Nuits-Saint-Georges Premiers Crus, sold by subscription, raised €43,585 for the benefit of APF France Handicap, the main French organization for the defense of the rights of people with disabilities and help the difficulties of people with disabilities. This sum is intended to support people with disabilities in accessing new technologies and the digital world via the “Digital Community and Inclusion” project.

Elodie Frégé (famous French singer), sponsor of the association, said she was “delighted to be able to support the APF France Handicap which promotes the key values ​​of solidarity, equality and humanism” via an event organized at the heart of his native Burgundy. For the occasion, she generously offered a musical parenthesis, at three quarters of the auction, with an interpretation of a world-famous song “La Javanaise”, thus bringing together all the nationalities present.
