Class Says Monster CEO Must Pay In HDMI Cable Settlement

By Lauraann Wood (February 6, 2020, 4:18 p.m. EST) – Consumers who settled a class action lawsuit claiming deceptively packaged HDMI cables by Monster Inc. have asked an Illinois state court to crack the corporate veil of the insolvent business and “prevent manifest injustice” by making its CEO personally responsible for payment.

Consumers say Monster has agreed to pay nearly $ 2 million to satisfy all valid claims and outstanding service, administration and attorney fees as part of a settlement. The class claimed that Monster’s HDMI cable bundles illegally tricked consumers across the country into buying more powerful, and therefore more expensive, cables than needed to deliver images to their HDTVs …
