Caroline Styne is co-owner and wine director of the Lucca restaurant group and wine director of Hollywood Bowl Food and wine.

“There are definitely wines that you wouldn’t want, like good Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon, some Italian red wines, vintage Champagnes and Burgundy,” says Caroline Styne. “These top-of-the-range wines have the advantage of being bottled under a cork stopper and aged. The canned wine format is best suited for whites, rosés, and some sparkling and light red wines, especially those intended to be consumed young.

Here’s a list of Styne’s picks for Hollywood Bowl lovers and anyone looking to taste premium wine in cans:

nomadic: “We also offer Nomadica rosé, sparkling white, sparkling rosé and red. They are made by local LA sommelier, Kristin Olszewski. Its wines are mineral and fresh, perfect for a summer evening under the stars.

Chardonnay Jackhammer 2016 and Jillhammer Rosé 2017: “These are two really well made wines from Monterey. Chardonnay comes from a single vineyard and is a prime example of a Central Coast wine – bright notes of apple and pear with tropical notes and balancing acidity.

Farmstrong country red: “I really like Faith Armstrong wines. This Carignan blend shows a lot of red fruit and has a salty quality. It is a great wine to sip with grilled meats and a barbecue.

Una Lou Rosé from Pinot Noir: “I love every wine that Scribe Winery produces. Their rosé is lively, mineral and luminous. We also sell Una Lou Rosé from Pinot Noir in bottles.

Scarpetta frico frizzante: “This sparkling white blend from northern Italy was inspired by the love of Prosecco. It’s crisp and crisp, with hints of apple and sweet pear.
