Raise your glass to celebrate the grand opening of Wilton’s newest business, Sipstirs: fine wines, craft spirits, craft beers. Located at 203 Danbury Road.this is the second store for the owner David Wagnerwho has been successfully operating his original Sipstirs in Darien for five years.

The new venue, which previously housed two other liquor stores, is poised to succeed with a new look and a new approach. Wagner, who recently purchased the property, painted the interior and exterior to create an open and light atmosphere.

Wagner said his business model sets Sipsters apart from big-box stores by offering personal attention to customers and offering curated wine selections, many of which come from small family producers who may not have the budget to make wine. national marketing, but which offer exceptional offers.

“We first make sure the value is there, and then we try to find interesting selections that customers might not be aware of. Just because you don’t know a certain wine doesn’t mean it’s not good,” he said.

Sipstirs also offers old world wines from countries like Italy, France and Spain, which have been making wine for centuries. He proudly wears Mary Taylor Wines, an imported and produced women’s product, which was recently featured in The New York Times: The Casting. Plus, it sells a variety of natural and organic wines to please every palate.

To better explore the store’s wine selections, Wagner recommended customers join Sipstirs Wine Club. Different levels offer between two and eight bottles selected by hand and delivered each month. “We spend a lot of time and effort choosing the wines,” he said. Members also benefit from a 15% discount on a selection of wines.

Besides wine, the store also carries an extensive inventory of craft beers, some from local breweries. Spirits like bourbon, vodka, and tequila round out the choices. “If you don’t see what you’re looking for, let us know, we’d be happy to order it for you,” Wagner said. Sipstirs will also prepare a gift basket or wrap a bottle if customers wish.

Sipstirs and Wagner have had a community impact in Darien by frequently partnering with local businesses and nonprofits for “Sip for a Cause” events. Wagner, who has recently been recognized as one of the Fairfield County Business Journal“40 Under 40”, is Vice President of the Darien Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation. He hopes to make the same connections in Wilton: “We are proud to be part of the community and are happy to give back.

Wagner said to stay tuned for upcoming tastings and in-store events. “We do really nice events with wine pairings, where customers can come and meet the winery owner or the brewer,” Wagner said.

Wagner is passionate about what he does and wants his customers to be too: “We are delighted to be open. We are here to stay.”
