The oldest continuously operating Barolo producer, Borgogno, has joined Oenogroup’s Italian portfolio for exclusive distribution in the UK.

Founded in 1761, its iconic and much visited winemaking factory is still located right in the heart of the town of Barolo itself. Borgogno became, as it still is, synonymous with Italian history in 1861, when its wines were chosen to accompany the banquet celebrating the unification of Italy.

Under the ownership and direction of talented winemaker Andrea Farinetti, Borgogno has charted a steep upward trajectory in recent vintages, with a renewed emphasis on its fabulous single-vineyard wines. These are located in some of the main areas of Barolo MGA (Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive) Where climates, notably Cannubi, List and Fossati.

The current releases are the deeply sensual 2015, followed by the remarkably impressive 2016 (which I tasted recently in Barolo).

The partnership will ensure that Oenogroup has an exclusive distribution of Barolo’s unique vineyard wines in the UK market, and will also offer the winery’s full range which includes their exciting Timorasso whites from Derthona and Riesling, as well as older vintages. of Riservas. , for which the winery is rightly famous, and the pleasantly drinkable Nebbiolo blend called No Name.

Andrea Farinetti commented, for dB “We are delighted that Oeno is leading our UK import and distribution strategy. Oeno is clearly one of the main emerging players in this market and is perfectly positioned to maximize the image and potential of our historic brand with a unique go-to-market strategy. Our decision to cultivate a partnership with Oeno was based on their wide range of knowledge and essential resources within the wine industry. With their expertise and unwavering dedication to the fine wine market, our wines will find new homes in the UK market for years to come ”.
