Americans tear up London cafe’s tiny drink portions calling it ‘disrespectful’ and ‘the size of a cup of pudding’

A Twitter post went viral this week after an American shared a photo of her iced coffee in London. The seemingly innocuous post racked up tens of thousands of likes and thousands of retweets as people expressed their shock and horror at the “small” portion.

Molly Mulshine shared a photo of her cold brew, taken at an unfamiliar London cafe, with the caption, “London, I love you but your cold brew sizes are just unacceptable.”

The photo shows the Twitter user holding up a rather small iced coffee in the sunshine. The tweet, which was posted yesterday morning, has since garnered over 97,000 likes and nearly 4,000 retweets.

People – mostly Americans – flooded the comments section with words of shock and disbelief. One user typed: “Never go to London – it’s disgusting.” Another said: ‘If I ordered a cold brew and it was handed to me, I would immediately commit crimes.’

A third person said: “This must be a joke????” A fourth similarly said, “This cup smaller than the size of a child.” Another person said it was “the size of a pudding cup”. One person said it was so small it was “disrespectful”.

Some users even described the cafe as being so small they thought it was something else. One person typed: “It looks like sauce.” A second said: “It’s definitely a dip container.” A third commented: “I thought it was a cup full [sic] caramel.”

However, many users have exclaimed that this is a perfectly acceptable cafe size in London. One user said, “it’s quite an average size.” Another person similarly said, “That’s the perfect amount of coffee.” A third said: ‘In fact, that’s the only amount of cold brew a person needs. Siding with Londoners, one American said it was the US that had “insane” portions.
