Summer fun is back in North Fork with plenty of events and activities scheduled this month.

Stack the car for a movie behind the wheel

CAST’s drive-in movie nights are the perfect night for family fun. On the first Thursday of each month through September, cruise to Peconic Bay Vineyards for a family movie night under the stars. On Thursday July 1st, watch the movie “Hairspray” and show off your best shot for a hairstyle competition. The cost is $ 50 per car and tickets can be purchased in advance at castsoutholdtown.org.

Lobster feast

The long-awaited LobsterFest, benefiting the Rotary Clubs of Southold and Greenport, will return for its 30th year on Saturday July 31st. As in 2020, due to COVID considerations, this year’s event will be a take-out version, with pickup at Greenport High School. Reserve a moment, collect your meal and enjoy a lobster or steak dinner with all the garnishes for a good cause. Make sure you have your tickets in advance.

Watch the fireworks over Orient Harbor

Boom: The Orient Harbor fireworks are back for 2021. The Independence Day display begins at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 3 and is expected to be visible from the eastern causeway and along the shores surrounding Hallocks Bay. For more details, visit orientfireworks.com.

Picnic at a local North Fork winery

Peconic Bay Vineyards now offers picnic reservations where visitors can enjoy a picnic set in a secluded row of vineyards for up to two hours. The reservation includes a wine flight for two people as well as a cold meats board and a bottle of wine of your choice. Reservations can be made for up to 6 people and are priced at $ 50 per person.

Line dance the night away

On July 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., slip on your dancing boots and head to the Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead for their annual Barn Dance fundraiser. The evening will be filled with traditional line dance music and attendees will be able to learn dance steps from a pro. All ages are welcome to this summer tradition. Attend a street festival

Alive on 25 at Riverhead is back! This free summer street festival in downtown Riverhead features handcrafted beer and wine, live music on 6 different stages, performers, street vendors, food trucks and restaurant specials , activities for kids and more. The street festival is scheduled for Thursday July 1, 15 and 29 (as well as August 12) from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Make a Hawaiian Haku style flower wreath

Learn the art of making flower wreaths in the Hawaiian Haku style at Sang Lee Farms. Enjoy live music and relaxed moments on Townsend Tuesdays

Every Tuesday in the summer starting July 6, head to Townsend Manor in Greenport from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a relaxed evening with local tunes, food trucks and cold drinks. Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket and hang out on the lawn with friends and neighbors.

Eat burgers and drink wine at McCall Wines

Thursday and Friday evenings throughout the summer, McCall Wines will be open for burger nights. Serving up homemade beef burgers, fries, their own wine, and more, these summer nights are not to be missed. Reservations are required and can be made here.
